Welcome to Emoty! This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our emoji pattern creation app. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Information We Collect

User-Created Content

Emoji Patterns: The emoji sequences and patterns you create
Pattern Names: Names you give to your saved patterns (including AI-generated suggestions you choose)
Tags and Organization: Tags, favorites, and organizational data you add to patterns
Creation Timestamps: When patterns were created or modified

App Usage Information

Preferences: Your language setting (English/French), theme preference (light/dark)
App State: Current pattern being worked on (saved locally for app continuity)

AI Service Data

Emoji Sequences: When you use our AI naming feature, we send your emoji sequences to Google's Gemini service to generate creative pattern names
Text You Type: When you describe a pattern in the AI pattern generator, the text you type (up to 500 characters) is sent to Google's Gemini service and to TypeSafe, together with the list of emojis the app can choose from, so they can suggest matching emojis, names and explanations
EmotyBot Conversations: When you chat with the AI assistant EmotyBot, your messages are sent to Google's Gemini service to generate responses
No Personal Information: The app does not add your name, account, contact details or device identifiers to AI requests. Anything you type into an AI prompt is sent, so please do not type personal information there

How We Use Your Information

Local Storage

All your patterns, preferences, and app data are stored locally on your device
We use this data to provide app functionality, save your creations, and maintain your preferences
Your patterns, tags and preferences are not sent to us. AI requests pass through a Cloud Function that we operate (see Third-Party Services)

AI Pattern Naming

When you request AI-generated pattern names, we send only your emoji sequence to Google's Gemini
This helps generate creative, relevant names for your patterns
No personal information or device identifiers are included in these requests

AI Pattern Generation

When you describe a pattern, Gemini suggests patterns, names and explanations from the text you type, and TypeSafe ranks the closest-matching emojis
EmotyBot conversations are sent to Gemini to generate replies
The app adds no personal information or device identifiers to these requests

App Functionality

We use your preferences to customize the app experience (language, theme)
Pattern data enables features like search, favorites, import/export, and organization

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

All your data is stored locally on your device using Android's secure database systems
You have full control over your data and can delete it at any time
Data remains on your device unless you explicitly export or share it

Data Transmission

Limited to AI requests (emoji sequences, the text you type in AI features, and EmotyBot messages)
All network communications use secure HTTPS encryption
No background data collection or transmission

Third-Party Services

Google Gemini

Purpose: Generate creative names and pattern suggestions, and provide EmotyBot assistance
Data Sent: Emoji sequences for naming (e.g., ❤️🌸🌟); the text you type in the AI pattern generator, with the list of emojis the app can choose from; EmotyBot conversation messages
Data Not Sent: No name, account, contact details, device identifiers or audio files

TypeSafe

Purpose: Rank which emojis best match what you describe in the AI pattern generator, so the first suggestion appears quickly
Data Sent: The text you type in the AI pattern generator, your language setting (English or French) and the list of emoji names the app can choose from
Data Not Sent: No name, account, contact details, device identifiers or audio files. TypeSafe receives the request from our Cloud Function, not from your device

Google Firebase (Cloud Functions and App Check)

Purpose: Our AI requests pass through Cloud Functions that we run in Google Firebase, which keep the AI service keys off your device. Firebase App Check, using Google Play Integrity, lets those functions accept requests only from genuine copies of Emoty
Data Handled: The AI request itself, plus a short-lived attestation token that App Check obtains from Google Play Integrity. Google receives your device's network address when your device connects
What We Record: Per request, the app, the AI model used and token counts, to monitor usage and cost. We do not record what you type

No Other Third Parties

We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, or tracking tools
No data is shared with third parties other than the services listed above

Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Emoty is safe for children under 13:

No Personal Information Collection: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personal identifiers
No Social Features: No chat, messaging, or social interaction features
Local Data Only: All data stays on the device under parental control
Safe AI Usage: AI features only process emoji sequences, the creative text you type, and EmotyBot conversations. The app adds no personal data, and please do not type any personal information
No Advertising: No third-party advertising or tracking

Parents can review and delete all app data through the device's application settings.

Your Rights and Choices

Data Control

Delete Data: Uninstall the app to remove all data, or use device settings to clear app data
Export Data: Use the app's export feature to save your patterns
Opt-Out of AI: You can create patterns without using any of the AI features

App Permissions

Internet: Required only for the AI features (naming, pattern generation, EmotyBot)
Storage: For saving pattern images to your device gallery (with your permission)
Notifications: For app-related notifications (can be disabled in device settings)

Data Retention

Local Data: Remains on your device until you delete the app or clear its data
AI Requests: We do not store what you send to the AI services. Google and TypeSafe handle it under their own policies (see the links above)

International Users

Data processing occurs locally on your device
AI requests are processed by Google and TypeSafe, which may handle data outside your country (see their privacy policies for international data handling)

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. We will notify users of material changes through:
